Dr. Omesh Kumar Bharti
Dr. Omesh Bharti is an accomplished professional in the field of rabies prevention and control. His groundbreaking work on rabies prophylaxis has had a global impact, leading to a change in WHO guidelines on the use of RIG in rabies prophylaxis. As a member of the Regional Technical Advisory Group on Dog Mediated Human Rabies, Omesh contributed his expertise for three years, focusing on the WHO South-East Asia Region. He played a pivotal role in implementing the WHO’s new rabies guidelines in Himachal Pradesh, becoming the only state in India to do so.
His contributions extend beyond rabies, as he is also part of WHO’s panel of experts on snakebite envenoming. He has received prestigious awards, including the Padma Shri in Medicine-Rabies, and has published extensively on rabies and related topics.
