Dr. Nirmalya Mukherjee is Director at CPHR.

Nirmalya’s research focuses on evidence implementation, tobacco control, and tribal health. He has been involved in the project management of; mobile medical clinics covering over 1 million people, the community media wing of MANT. He is the project head of Advancing Tobacco Control in the state of West Bengal, since 2014, and was instrumental towards ‘Tobacco free Kolkata’. Under his leadership, MANT received the Best NGO in Tobacco Control Award at the 5th National Conference on Tobacco or Health (NCTOH) in 2021.

In the past, he has been involved in several studies related to Tobacco Control, RCH, HIV/AIDS, and Health Communication as PI or Co-PI.

Dr. Nirmalya has Masters in Social Work from Vidyasagar University and Masters of Public Health from Mahidol University. His Ph.D. focused on impact on HIV/AID communication on social and behavioural changes among tribal people of Purulia district of West Bengal.
