Prof Feucht
Prof Feucht is the co-director of the Ekurhuleni Clinical Research Centre -a JBI affiliate. She is a Principal specialist Pediatrician working as the head of the unit of the Pediatrics at the Tswane District Clinical Specialist Team and University of Pretoria. She is the Director of the Centre for Maternal, Fetal, Newborn and Child Health Care Strategies, University of Pretoria. She is also the Deputy Director, Maternal and Infant Health Care Strategies Research Unit, South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC). She has published many papers in national and international journals. She has been involved in developing many national guidelines and national projects. She is a reviewer and editor of the journals.
Dr Nirmalya Mukherjee
Dr Mukherjee is a trained and professional social worker. He has a Masters (Public health) and a PhD (Mass Communication and Journalism). He is currently the Director Centre for Public Health Research, Research Wing of MANT and a JBI affiliate centre. He has attended several short/executive courses from prestigious institutions/universities like Johns Hopkins University and the University of Pennsylvania. He has more than 23 years of experience in conceiving, designing, managing, & evaluating health & development projects in various capacities.
Prof Zoe Jordan
Prof Jordan has held numerous leadership positions over the past 20 years’ working to promote and support evidence-based healthcare globally. She is particularly interested in understanding how evidence syntheses efforts related to global frameworks such as the SDGs. She has been involved in various collaborative groups such as the Global Evidence Commission Response Working Group (Australia), SPOR Evidence Alliance International Advisory Committee (Canada), the Multi-Stakeholder Engagement Consortia (MuSE) and Cochrane Co-Production Methodology Group, JBI Textual Evidence Synthesis Methodology Group, Evidence Synthesis Taxonomy Initiative Advisory Group (ESTI), the Health Translation SA Implementation Science Network Executive. Prof Jordan was the recipient of the South Australian Telstra Business Women's Award for Public Sector and Academia in 2019.
Dr Nontembiso Magida
She is a Lecturer in Physiotherapy at the University of Pretoria. She completed her PhD in Physiotherapy at the University of Witwatersrand. Dr Magida is very keen with community engagement and coordinating inter-professional healthcare leadership for School of Healthcare Science. Dr Magida’s research niche is inter-professional collaboration and public health. She is also a reviewer of PlosOne journal.
Prof. Jayati Kusari-Basu
Prof Kusari-Basu is a principal specialist obstetrician & Gynecologist working as the head of the unit of obstetrics & Gynecology at the Ekurhuleni district clinical specialist team and a joint staff at the University of Witwatersrand (WITS). She is affiliated with South African medical Research Council Centre for Maternal, Fetal, Newborn and Child Health Care Strategies, University of Pretoria. She has presented in various national and international conferences and published many papers in international and national journals. She is an editorial board member of journals and is a reviewer of various journals.
Prof Subrata Mukherjee
He previously served as Associate Professor at the Institute of Development Studies, Kolkata. He is a recipient of prestigious honors, including the CANADA-HOPE Scholarship by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the UGC’s Junior Research Fellowship. Dr. Mukherjee has led or co-led over 15 major research projects, notably in public health, development policy, and social equity. His work spans health economics, development studies, and quantitative policy evaluation, contributing extensively through scholarly publications and policy-relevant research. Dr. Mukherjee remains deeply committed to advancing empirical research and mentoring the next generation of social scientists in India.
Ms. Suraya Roy
She has been serving as a research officer at the Centre for Public Health Research, Manbhum Ananda Ashram Nityananda Trust (MANT), Kolkata Since September 2022. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Calcutta, Kolkata. Her research focuses on internal rural-urban labor migration in West Bengal, India. She is currently involved with two major projects: the Return on Investment Study, supported by The International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, and a study on the Economic Impact of Tobacco Usage, supported by MANT. Suraya is also a recipient of the prestigious Australian Awards Fellowship, which supports her work in implementation programs.
Dr Paramita Bhattacharya
Dr Bhattacharya has MSc (Economics), MPhil (Economics) and a PhD (Economics). Paramita’s research focuses on health financing, health economics, and economic evidence. At CPHR she leads the grant proposal writing, co-leading of research projects and supervision of junior team members. She was awarded Dr. R. T. Doshi First Prize for her paper on ‘India’s National Food Security Act 2013: Food distribution through revamped public distribution system or food stamps and cash transfers?’, and Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Managing Critical Resources: Food, Energy and Water, by CEDP, IIM Calcutta.
Dr Sajda Khatoon
She is the Assistant Director-Research at the Centre for Public Health Research, MANT, India. She specializes in vector-borne diseases, public health, and evidence synthesis, with a focus on climate-related severe weather events in the Bay of Bengal. Her doctoral research (2021) examined vector-borne disease prevalence in Kolkata. A recipient of the UGC NET/JRF-SRF fellowship (2015), she integrates GIS into health geography research. Dr. Khatoon has published widely, presented globally, and received multiple awards, including a Best Paper Award (2023), NIH case study project (2024) and a travel grant for the Global Forum on Bioethics in Research (2024).
Prof Lauri Kokkinen
His research focuses on key social determinants of health and wellbeing, such as the labor market and the welfare state. Professor Kokkinen leads the health & welfare systems group and serve as a co-director of the WHO collaborating centre at Tampere University.
Dr Mikko Perkiö
He is dedicated to exploring platform workers’ perceptions of well-being from a comparative perspective. Through the RRR-Uber and ORIFODY projects, he has focused on on-location workers, taxi drivers, and food couriers, employing qualitative methods to gain deeper insights.
Dr Nicole Valentine
She is a Technical Officer at WHO in the Department of Social Determinants of Health in the Equity and Health Unit with senior expertise in social determinants of health, health equity, health systems and Health in All Policies. She has 30 years’ work experience in public health, starting in South Africa where she worked 5 years on health policy and community health, based at the University of Cape Town, before joining WHO. At WHO, she led the team developing measurement of health systems’ responsiveness / quality of care from the patient’s perspective; co-facilitated the Country Stream of Work of the Commission on Social Determinants of Health; and led several projects developing evidence syntheses, WHO guidance, and supports for intersectoral action and the Health in All Policies approach in country work to address the social determinants of health equity. She holds a Bachelors’ degree (in economics) and two Masters degrees - Master of Economics from the University of Cape Town; Master of Public Health from the University of Washington, Seattle; and a Doctorate in Public Health from Erasmus University, the Netherlands.
Dr Saverio Bellizzi
He has led the WHO Emergency Preparedness and Response in Jordan during COVID-19 Pandemic. Additionally, he supported field response to global emergencies like 2014/15 Ebola outbreak in West Africa and 2010 Haiti earthquake. He is strongly engaged in global collaborations around analytical work on various epidemiological fields, with focus on reproductive health (authors of more than 60 publications in internationally recognized scientific Journals).
