Prof. Barun Kanjilal
Professor Barun Kanjilal, a prominent health economist in India, is currently an independent consultant specializing in health economics and financing. He served as a Former Professor (Health Economics) at IIHMR University, Jaipur, India, where he worked passionately for twenty-three years until his retirement in 2017. With an MA in Economics from the University of Burdwan, India, and a Ph.D. in Economics from Louisiana State University, USA, his academic journey has been illustrious. Prior to IIHMR, he held positions in academia and conducted post-doctoral research in Agricultural Economics at Louisiana State University.
Professor Kanjilal’s expertise lies in Development Economics, with a keen emphasis on Health Economics, Financing, and Health System Development. He has successfully led more than 50 research programs in India, focusing on public health financing and management. Holding a Senior Associate position at the Department of International Health, Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University, USA, he’s made significant contributions to the global healthcare landscape. His publications extensively cover issues of healthcare inequity and emerging trends in the Indian healthcare market. With his wealth of knowledge, Professor Kanjilal is a valuable addition to the Governing Council of CPHR-MANT.
